Have you ever seen these cute little furry animals, These are Japanese flying squirrels, small mammals that are able to soar from branch to branch thanks to a pubescent membrane (patagium) located between the front and hind legs. Although these cute mammals don’t fly, they can glide up to 100 meters away. This remarkable ability allows them to escape from possible predators or, more simply, to reach other trees.

The Siberian flying squirrel (Pteromys volans) is an Old World flying squirrel whose range extends from the Baltic Sea in the west to the Pacific Coast in the east. This is the only species of flying squirrel found in Europe. It is considered vulnerable within the European Union, where it is now found only in Estonia, Finland, and Latvia out of the 27 countries of the Union, according to Wikipedia.
