And as a bonus bird for this week, I’d like to share one that I’ve been saving for an occasion like this: the blue-crowned hanging parrot (Loriculus galgulus).

As you can see, the hanging parrot is especially adorable. It has it all: vibrant green plumage, large, expressive black eyes, a red rump and chest, not to mention the blue crown we already mentioned. It’s a true delight to behold.

But perhaps you’re wondering, what’s so special about this hanging behavior? Well, hanging parrots have a charming peculiarity: they sleep hanging upside down.

Why do they do this? Who knows? Maybe they have better dreams when the blood rushes to their heads? In any case, I’ll leave you with a few more photos of these strange characters. I hope they help dispel the boredom of lockdown, and I hope you also dream… of upside-down parrots.
