Don’t skip this post because today’s story is going to be one of the brightest and most wonderful examples of animal friendship we’ve ever seen. Meet Tao and Oko, two cute golden retrievers who are going viral on the internet thanks to their adorable and great friendship.
Tao is a ten-year-old golden retriever who had both eyes removed due to glaucoma. Even though he is blind, that hasn’t stopped him from enjoying a wonderful life as he has his own Eye Guide puppy.
Tao’s owner, Melanie Jackson, told LAD Bible that she first noticed her little dog had health problems in February 2019. “We had a typical morning,” Mel said. “Everything was absolutely normal. But you just know when a dog is not his normal self. By nightfall, he was in the worst pain I have ever seen, so he took him to the vet. ”
Unfortunately, Tao was diagnosed with glaucoma, a disease that damages the optic nerve in his eye. “Glaucoma is a buildup of fluid in the eye that has nowhere to drain. If you can imagine a migraine and multiply it by a hundred, that was the pain he was experiencing, ”Mel said.
“He scratched his face. I said to [the veterinarian], “You will think that I have lost my mind, but Tao has lost his sight.” The pressure in the right eye was so strong. We had no choice but to remove the eye. ”
Melanie discovered that her older dog was not happy and playful after losing his eyes. In an effort to give Tao a better quality of life, she brought Oko home in the hope that the little dog would help Tao navigate the world, feel better, and have more fun.
Although Oko joined the family quite late in Tao’s life, a strong bond immediately developed between the two. Now they are best friends and inseparable. Oko is not only an ideal playmate for Tao but also helps his blind friend move around by acting as a guide dog for him.
Tao quickly adapted to the life of a blind dog, thanks in large part to his best friend. “Thao follows him across the field and they sleep with each other,” Melanie said. “We are training Tao to follow the Eye so that he does not get in the way of any danger.”
People are incredibly happy to see Oko next to their best friend. The story of Tao and the Oko shows that difficulties not only test you but also reveal who your real friends are. I hope that with the by his side, Tao and Oko will always be safe and happy.
